RESEARCH 2 – I.T.M. (RETRIEVAL)

It is evident that the Dr. Martens brand has a completely different aesthetic and feel to a lot of these high fashion designers and popular shoe styles. Designers such as Louboutin and Valentino feature a higher level of editorial tone in their campaigns, as opposed to the more commercial brands like Converse and D.M, who I personally feel cater more to the general public and everyday wear. I think I am more drawn to Dr. Martens concepts because of key factors such as the development of the history of the brand and just generally offering good quality products without being completely out of reach in ability to attain these products.
However, this does not mean I don’t like and appreciate other campaign styles like the ones I have referenced below, it just means I have to be aware that each brand has it’s own unique imprint and is respective of it’s own personal history and creative achievements. In particular, I really love the Kenzo image with the glass box and the water as it is quite alluring in a peculiar kind of way. I find this combination of the glass and water quite exciting and something I am eager to explore one day.

I have to admit, I really love this Yeezy campaign and the mood that it radiates to the viewer through components like styling, setting and lighting and how they all blend together perfectly through use of colour combination. I’m also impressed with the way Kanye is not afraid to explore intimacy and affection in the images and lay out a sensation of bond and connection between people.
